The Thai Population Association (TPA) is an organization founded by a group of academics and specialists who are concerned with problems related to the size, quality and distribution of population in urban and rural areas.

The TPA was registered on November 5,1981, and draws its members from academic institution and governmental and non-governmental agencies working on the area of population and related fields. In addition to being a forum for these specialists, the TPA is a source of information dissemination and research for population issues, in order to encourage members' performance, as well as to make a contribution to relevant government policy.

1. To promote and disseminate the progress of the field of population studies by cooperating with academic institutions concerned with the forums of research in which members are involved.

2. To influence the direction of national population planning and development by encouraging studies and research in the field of population and broadly utilizing available information.

3. To serve as a center for coordinating academic transactions among specialists working in governmental and non-governmental agencies in the form of seminars and informal consultation to enhance esprit de corps among the TPA's members.
